Shiba Inu Arya’s Growth Diary (1)

It has been more than a year since we had a little one at home. As a first-time dog owner, I was inevitably flustered and confused at first, but as time went by, I was able to take care of her with ease. Now the little one has become an indispensable member of the family. Unfortunately, I didn’t take many photos before. Now I plan to keep more video materials as a souvenir.

At the end of 2014, I accidentally brought back two Shiba Inus from a pet store. The two siblings were about two months old and were both small. I packed them in a cardboard box and brought them home. Since they are siblings, I gave them related names. I wanted to call them Arya and Bran (from the novel A Song of Ice and Fire), but according to the pronunciation in the American TV series, Arya sounds like calling grandpa in Shanghainese… So I settled for the next best thing and named them after Arya and Bran’s wolves. From then on, the older sister was named Nymeria and the younger brother was named Summer.

This is Nymeria who has just returned home.

This is Xia Tian.

Nymeria has a small defect – her tail was bitten by another puppy when she was young, and then it withered. The store manager had to cut off most of her tail. After

that, her tail was just a small ball, shaped like a bunny’s tail. Xia Tian seemed to have some congenital problems: she was irritable and often chased and bit Nymeria; she snatched food and ate feces; her intelligence was so low that she couldn’t drink water from the water fountain smoothly… and so on and so forth. So she was finally returned to the pet store.

On the day Xia Tian left, Nymeria was obviously in a bad mood. She lay in the nest and didn’t want to move much, with a sad face. So I played with her for a while longer, patted her head and smoothed her fur. I didn’t care about the bite she gave me last time. Life is always full of separations, I said to Nymeria. She whimpered twice, perhaps she understood a little.

But gradually Nymeria also adapted to living alone. The Shiba Inu’s vigorous vitality overwhelmed the loneliness, and she began to be lively again. Before the teeth changed, the little baby teeth were very sharp, and I often scratched my hands. I had to get a set of rabies vaccines (haha, it is effective for half a year, you can bite as much as you want in half a year). But after the new teeth changed, it didn’t feel so sharp anymore. It’s okay to be bitten occasionally.

After it grows up a little, you can pinch its face. I hope it can grow rounder in the future.

Some people say that Shiba Inu has a personality like a cat, and it’s true. Sometimes she will come over and rub against me. She is also very happy to lift her up and lie on my thighs, and she can stay there for a long time.

Every time I eat, she will run over and sit next to me, neither barking nor making a fuss, but just staring at me with her little eyes full of expectation. I always feel embarrassed to be stared at, so I have to give her a little bit of food.

By the way, her ears are really sensitive. Sometimes I eat snacks in my room, and Nymeria is obviously in the living room, but as long as I open the package and make a little noise… In the next moment, I can see her appear next to me, posing like this and asking for food. What a greedy ghost.

At the beginning, the little thing was really timid. She never goes out of the door. As soon as she leaves the house, she lies on the ground and dares not move. She dares not go into the elevator or climb the stairs. After finally reaching the downstairs, she dares not leave the lobby.

Once I put her on a cardboard box and she dared not come down. She

must have been tired after standing on the cardboard box for a long time, so she simply lay down to rest.

At first, I let her sleep in a cage. But at six o’clock every day, she would whimper in the cage and make a fuss to get out, making a lot of noise. So later, I simply did not close the cage door at night. Later, she may have felt that it was too troublesome to go in and out of the cage, so she just lay on the floor beside the bed at night. Her sitting and sleeping postures are getting more and more unrestrained.

At this time, I like to gently step on her belly. It’s so soft and comfortable. (You can clearly see that the tail is only a little bit in this picture)

I also like to fold her ears to cosplay Da Huang.

She acts cute when there are snacks to eat.

Girls can also be handsome.

At the right angle, she looks as handsome as Reagan, but at the wrong angle, she looks as fat as Kim Jong-un!

One day, when I was sorting things out, I found a Darth Maul mask from Star Wars, so I suddenly had the idea of wearing it to scare Nymeria. Unexpectedly, the little girl was so scared that she didn’t even have the strength to run away with her tail between her legs (well, she didn’t have a tail anyway). After stumbling a few steps, she actually…

peed! Peed

!!

Peed!!!

From then on, I refreshed my understanding of her courage. It

was this mask.

After posting some pictures in the discussion area, several friends pointed out that Nymeria had a red circle around her mouth. At first, she didn’t seem to care, but later she kept scratching it with her feet, as if it was really itchy. I heard that it might be a fungal problem, so I bought her an Elizabethan collar and prepared to go to the hospital to ask about the situation this weekend.

However, after putting on the collar with great difficulty, she couldn’t move! She couldn’t walk or move! After waiting for a long time, she finally learned to walk a little, but now she refuses to run.

It’s really a cursed equipment that reduces agility!
