In the world of pets, Siamese cats attract many cat owners with their unique charm. My three – year – plus nearly four – year companionship with my Siamese cat Eddie has made me deeply realize that Siamese cats are not only lovely pets but also indispensable warm companions in life. Although there are some small “troubles” during the process, overall, they are really easy to raise.
In terms of diet, Eddie is not very picky. I’ve been feeding it Go! Solutions Nine Meat Recipe cat food, and it enjoys it very much. However, it has a strong sense of curiosity and is extremely interested in human food. Whenever I’m having a meal, it will come over immediately, bringing its little nose close to carefully smell the aroma of the food. It looks as if it’s exploring what delicious dishes I’m enjoying. Although Siamese cats are considered by doctors to have somewhat weak stomachs, known as “fragile stomachs”, under my meticulous care, Eddie has only had diarrhea twice since it was a kitten. One time was due to a change in temperature, and the other time might have been because of eating something unclean. As long as we pay more attention to their diet and living environment, the gastrointestinal problems of Siamese cats can be well managed.

Eddie’s curiosity is not only reflected in diet. It is simply a “curious baby”. When it was a kitten, it would rummage through the trash can. Tissue paper, plastic, and shoelaces were all “targets” of its exploration, which really worried me a lot. To prevent it from accidentally ingesting foreign objects, I had to replace the trash can with a lidded one and always put away all small items in time, stuffing shoelaces into shoes. But it is precisely this curiosity that fills its life with fun and also brings me many memories that make me laugh and cry.
When it comes to personality, Eddie’s most prominent feature is its clinginess. Every day when I get home from work, as soon as I sit down, it will jump onto my lap with brisk steps and lie comfortably on me. Now that it weighs more than ten pounds, it still sees itself as a little baby. When sleeping at night, it will lie on my chest, and its heavy body brings a sense of full security. At the same time, it is also a real “chatterbox”, meowing non – stop from morning till night. With it around, I never have to worry about feeling lonely. However, this clinginess also has its “headache – causing” moments. As soon as I leave its sight, it will start frantically “searching” for me. Especially when I go to take a shower, it will wail outside the bathroom door as if complaining about why I “abandoned” it. Every time before taking a shower, I have to squat at the bathroom door and “communicate” with it for a long time, just like doing ideological work. It’s really both frustrating and amusing.
When I got a cat sister for Eddie when it was three years old, I found that Eddie seemed a bit “jealous”. Most of the time, they get along well, and Eddie will also groom the sister cat, but there is a “chase battle” every night. To prevent Eddie from feeling left out, I will hold it more often, hoping it can feel my equal love.
Another interesting thing is that Eddie seems to be a bit of a neat freak. Whether the litter box needs to be cleaned is not up to me but to it. As soon as the litter box is a little dirty, it will keep walking back and forth beside it, meowing to urge me to clean it. Its eager look is like a “life – threatening reminder to clean the litter box”. What’s more amazing is that when it needs to vomit hair or feels unwell and needs to vomit, it will specifically go to the tile floor and never vomit on the carpet.
Looking back on the years with Eddie, it has brought countless joys and warmth to my life. Siamese cats are not only cost – effective, with prices that are acceptable to the general public, but also sturdy and easy to raise, and their beautiful eyes are particularly charming. As time passes, their fur color may darken, but it’s like having a brand – new cat. If the fur doesn’t darken, it’s like winning a lottery. Eddie has long become an indispensable family member in my life. In the days to come, I look forward to creating more beautiful memories with it.
