In the world of pet keeping, people often say, “When you raise the right cat, your life is filled with warmth and joy.” However, for me, since raising these two male Siamese cats, every day has been like an endless “cleaning battle.” What they bring is a unique experience intertwined with sweetness and “disaster.”
These two Siamese cats are incredibly clingy. Whether I’m cooking in the kitchen, working in the study, or resting in the living room, they always follow me like shadows. Once I sit down, they quickly jump onto my lap and rub their heads against my hands, eager to be petted. Their enthusiasm makes it seem as if I’m the only one they rely on in the world. Moreover, their curiosity knows no bounds. Every item in the house seems like a new and exciting toy to them. They have to go over, touch it with their paws, and sniff it with their noses.

However, their liveliness and boundless energy also give me a major headache. Saying they are like dogs is an understatement; they are more like Huskies with extremely strong destructive power. Every midnight, when the whole world falls asleep, their “carnival time” begins. They run wild in the house, leaping from the sofa to the table, and then from the table to the windowsill. Wherever they go, items are knocked over. Once, at five in the morning, my husband and I were kept awake by them. Lying in bed, we were filled with worry about complaints from the neighbors downstairs. It was an agonizing feeling. In desperation, we could only lock them in a cage at night to reduce the “disasters.”
In addition to their late – night antics, their destructive power in daily life cannot be underestimated. A freshly – filled cat food bowl can be overturned with a single wave of their paw, and a newly – added bowl of clean water will be spilled everywhere. What’s more frustrating is that they love to “dance” in the litter box. The cat litter that should be inside the box is scattered all over the place, and they often defecate outside the litter box, completely ignoring hygiene. These “outrageous” behaviors have now become part of our daily routine. Watching them look cheerful and carefree after “making a mess,” I feel angry and amused at the same time. I can’t help but think, “Leave me alone,” but the next moment, I’m amused by their cute appearance.
In sharp contrast to these two mischievous Siamese cats are the other two cats in the house. They are quiet and well – behaved, never causing any trouble, just like little angels, which makes me feel at ease. This also makes me deeply realize that the personalities of different cat breeds can vary so greatly.
To be honest, although I like dogs, I’ve never been a fan of Huskies because of their excessive energy and strong destructive power. Now, after raising these two Siamese cats, I understand that if you’re like me and don’t like Huskies, you’d better think twice before raising Siamese cats. Especially these two male Siamese cats have a strong body odor. Sometimes, an unpleasant smell fills the room, which makes me wonder if female Siamese cats might be better in this regard.
Although these two Siamese cats have brought me a lot of trouble and headaches, there’s no denying that their presence has also added a lot of fun and surprises to my life. Their clinginess, naughtiness, and liveliness have all become unique scenes in my life. Perhaps this is the charm of pet – keeping. Even though it’s full of challenges, it’s still something we’re willing to endure because during the process of getting along with them, the deep affection formed is already hard to let go.
