Wanzi is now three months and seventeen days old. She came to my home when she was less than two months old, and it was quite an unexpected start to our journey together. My daughter had been constantly asking for a cat for a long time. I was always in a dilemma and had even asked several friends about their experiences of cat – keeping. I had almost given up the idea of having a cat. However, fate had its own plan. Suddenly, a friend told me that his Siamese cat had given birth to four kittens and asked if I wanted one. I declined, saying that I didn’t know how to raise a cat and was afraid I couldn’t take good care of it.
The next morning, he called me while I was making breakfast. Since my hands were full, I didn’t answer. When I arrived at the unit, a colleague suddenly told me that my friend had dropped off the cat for me that morning and urged me to take it away quickly. The little one had been running around her, exploring the area with great curiosity. When I saw her, she had milky – white fur, a black nose, and two big blue eyes. She didn’t seem at all afraid of strangers. As soon as she saw me, she jumped onto my chair. She was so adorable! When I called her Mimi, she meowed in response. And that’s how she came into my life.

It was her first night at home, and I was amazed at how well she adapted. She immediately knew to use the newly – bought litter box for urinating. She ate and drank normally and didn’t hide away. Instead, she ran around the house, playing happily. My eight – year – old daughter was extremely excited to have a cat of her own, though she was also a little scared at first. My husband was worried that the cat might scratch or bite us, so he wasn’t too keen on keeping her. But since I had already brought Wanzi home, I was determined to raise her well, despite the pressure.
After getting familiar with the new environment and us, this little guy became very clingy. When we sat on the sofa, she would jump up and lie on our chests. Sometimes, that wasn’t enough for her. She would climb higher, nestling under our chins or even perching on our shoulders. Only then would she be satisfied and purr contentedly. She wasn’t picky about food at all. Whether it was cat food, egg yolks, or finely – chopped cooked meat, she ate everything with great relish. She also had an abundance of energy. She could play with a cat wand, a small toy mouse, a ball, or even a simple straw for quite a while. When she got tired, she would come and snuggle up beside us or on our laps and fall asleep soundly.
In terms of discipline, she gradually learned that I didn’t want her on the tea table or the TV cabinet, as there were many things on them. Every time she tried to jump up, I would blow air at her, and she would scurry away. After several attempts, she stopped exploring those places. Since Wanzi came into our lives, I’ve been constantly looking up information, browsing forums, and reading on Zhihu, trying to learn everything I can about cats. I want to understand her better and love her more. Now, every time I get home from work, she rushes out and meows at me. Her anxious eyes seem to say, “You’re finally back! Where have you been? I’ve missed you so much!” After I stroke her, she happily goes off to play again. Wanzi is truly an adorable, sensible, smart, and well – behaved kitten. I hope she can grow up healthy and strong!
