In the world of pets, every little animal is like a unique star, shining with its own light. And my Dabai is an especially remarkable one. The mysterious “color-changing mystery” on it makes me full of curiosity and the desire to explore its identity.
At the age of five months, Dabai came into my life on a warm day. At that time, it was just like a fluffy little angel, with a pure white body. Its clean little face had no impurities, and its soft back was spotlessly white. With a pair of big, watery eyes, it curiously sized up this brand-new world. That adorable appearance instantly captured my heart. I happily brought it home, and since then, we’ve started our life together.

However, as time passed quietly, two months later, with the temperature gradually dropping, I was surprised to find that Dabai began to undergo wonderful changes. Its originally delicate pink paw pads slowly turned yellow; its fur was no longer purely white, and it started to turn yellow little by little. During the process of turning yellow, Dabai’s figure also gradually became rounder, as if it had secretly hidden a lot of “little secrets” in its body. What’s more amazing is that the patterns on its body also began to slowly appear, from faint traces to clearer and clearer shapes, as if they were carefully drawn by nature on it. In the depths of winter, Dabai’s changes became even more obvious. Not only did the fur on its face and limbs become darker, but its back was also tinged with yellow. From a distance, those patterns were like its unique “ID card.”
Besides the magical changes in appearance, Dabai also has very distinct personality traits. It loves to meow a lot, as if it has endless things to share with me. Its meows are delicate and “feminine,” sometimes soft and gentle, like it’s acting coquettish; sometimes urgent and loud, like it’s expressing dissatisfaction. Every time I get home, before I even open the door, I can hear its “meowing” calls from inside the house. That sound is full of dependence and expectation for me. Moreover, Dabai is a super “clingy one.” Whether I’m busy doing housework, taking a shower in the bathroom, or resting in the bedroom, it has to stay by my side closely. Sometimes, when I close the door in the bathroom, it will keep meowing outside the door until I open the door and let it in. Only then will it quiet down and squat obediently beside me, as if it can only feel secure in this way.
In terms of diet, Dabai is also a complete “picky eater.” It has an almost fanatical love for raw meat. Every time it sees fresh raw meat, its eyes will light up, and it can’t wait to step forward and enjoy a big meal. However, it shows little interest in common chicken breast. It just sniffs it and then turns away, as if it’s something hard to swallow. In order to make its diet balanced, I’ve tried various methods, but it always sticks to its “obsession” with raw meat, which is both frustrating and amusing.
Looking at these unique behaviors of Dabai, I can’t help but wonder: Is it a Siamese cat or a rural cat? Judging from the fact that its fur color changes with the temperature, it has something in common with Siamese cats; but the fact that its fur turns yellow instead of black makes it different from Siamese cats. Combining its personality traits of being talkative, clingy, and picky, it seems to have the lively and affectionate characteristics of rural cats.
No matter what breed Dabai actually is, in my heart, it is an irreplaceable treasure. Its mysterious “color-changing mystery” has added countless joys and surprises to our lives; its company has filled every day with warmth and happiness. In the days to come, I look forward to continuing to accompany Dabai, uncovering more of its “little secrets,” and writing our own beautiful story.
