I thought I had done my homework thoroughly and confidently shared knowledge about Siamese cat fur colors online. I vowed that chocolate point Siamese cats wouldn’t turn dark, only to be “slapped in the face” by reality. My chocolate point Siamese cat, Aoli Gei, has staged a wonderful “color – changing drama” with its growth journey.
At first, I acted like a little expert, sharing knowledge about Siamese cat point colors on the Internet. I earnestly told everyone that Siamese cats have various point colors, and the darkening situations of different point colors vary greatly. Among them, seal point Siamese cats will definitely turn dark, while chocolate point, blue point, and lilac point ones basically won’t. I strongly recommended these colors, claiming there would be no trouble of “darkening.” To prove my point, I even shared photos of Aoli Gei when it was seven months old. With its clean and beautiful fur, showing no signs of “darkening,” I felt extremely proud at that time, believing I had mastered the “secret” of Siamese cat fur colors.
As time went by, I occasionally updated Aoli Gei’s status online. Seeing everyone’s love for Aoli Gei, I became even more convinced of my judgment. However, reality started to play tricks on me. On July 4, 2021, I helplessly confessed to everyone, “Aoli Gei has darkened (a lot).” Looking at its gradually darkening fur, I could hardly believe my eyes. I had confidently claimed that chocolate point cats wouldn’t darken, but now Aoli Gei was gradually breaking my “prediction.”
By November 7, 2021, Aoli Gei’s change left me both amused and helpless. It was almost entirely dark except for its bottom, lying in my violin case. The difference between its current appearance and when it was a kitten was astonishing. All I could do was force a smile, feeling extremely embarrassed as if I had been severely rebuked.
On December 14, 2022, more than a year after the last update, although Aoli Gei didn’t darken significantly again, it had not only become darker but also fatter. The once – white, young, and slender cutie had now turned into a dark, mature, and chubby cat. Witnessing this heart – wrenching transformation, I felt a mix of amusement and emotion.
During the process of raising Aoli Gei, its color change has brought me many surprises and joys. Although its change shattered my previous understanding, it also taught me that every cat has its uniqueness and cannot be defined by fixed standards. Now, even though Aoli Gei is darker and fatter, it is still a one – of – a – kind treasure in my eyes. It has taught me to embrace changes in life with a more inclusive and open mind in its own way and has also gifted me with an incredibly precious and interesting cat – raising memory.
