Time flies, and I have been raising this British Shorthair silver tabby cat, DouDou, for two months. I think I’m qualified to share my experience and feelings of raising a cat during this period.
When DouDou was first brought home by me, its chubby and round appearance captured my heart at once. Although it had a relatively heavy tear stain, its super clingy personality was really lovable. My family and I also thought that the tear stain could gradually fade away. Moreover, since it was already more than three months old and looked easy to raise, and my family preferred cats with a whiter color, DouDou officially became a member of our family.
I still remember the first day DouDou came to our home. I found that it seemed a bit not so smart. At that time, I brought four cats home in total, and DouDou was actually the first one that was so scared that it pooped on the way, which made me feel both funny and annoyed. When it first arrived home, it kept sticking out its tongue like a dog. I hurriedly asked the boss what was going on. The boss said it might want to drink water, but DouDou ignored the prepared water, which made me very nervous and I didn’t know what to do. However, later I found that DouDou actually liked drinking water very much. This was different from the Chinese rural cats I raised before, which basically wouldn’t drink the prepared water on their own. This contrast made me think DouDou was quite amazing.

DouDou is full of curiosity about everything around it. A stone can keep it entertained for a whole morning, having a great time. Moreover, as soon as it hears me calling its name, it will start kneading the milk. The way its little paws press and release is extremely cute. I’m particularly happy that DouDou can knead the milk, while the Chinese rural cats I raised before were relatively afraid of people and wouldn’t have such an intimate behavior. Although raising a purebred cat costs relatively more, it really can bring a lot of different experiences, and the appearance of DouDou has made me deeply realize this.
When it comes to sleeping, DouDou’s sleeping postures are really diverse. At first, it always took on a strange frog – sitting sleeping posture, and later it gradually learned the normal sitting posture. It especially likes to sleep on the cool floor of the toilet. I carefully prepared three comfortable cat beds for it, but it wasn’t interested in them at all. I really can’t do anything about it. When we are having a meal, DouDou always keeps jumping onto the table. No matter how I scold or hit it, it doesn’t seem to understand. Its cute and silly appearance makes me angry and loving at the same time. Every time I angrily pick it up and put it down, it will make a strange sound. I have no idea what it wants to express, and finally I have to put it in the cage.
In the early days, DouDou had a relatively heavy tear stain. Sometimes it would just sit there in a daze, not knowing what it was thinking. However, as time goes by, DouDou is also growing up slowly and has gradually become a handsome guy. When it sees the nutritional paste, its eyes immediately light up. Its cute appearance can almost melt my heart.
When DouDou plays with toys, it is completely in a self – entertained type and can have a great time on its own. It has a strange obsession with mouse – shaped toys and always chases after the toys non – stop. In addition, it has a strange obsession with people’s feet. Sometimes it will suddenly run over and hug my feet, making people laugh. It also likes basketball and is just like an “internet – addicted teenager”. Looking at the way it plays with the ball, I often can’t help laughing.
The existence of DouDou has made my life rich and colorful. Sometimes when I’m working and typing, I can’t help but peek at it when it’s playing or sleeping. Every move of it touches my heart. Although it is sometimes naughty and brings me some small troubles, the joy and warmth it brings to me far exceed these. I’m very glad to have such a lovely cat as DouDou. I hope that in the days to come, we can continue to accompany each other and spend more wonderful times together.
