My cat is named “Cola,” and to be honest, his appearance isn’t the best. However, with the spirit of loving him forever once I decided to keep him, and since he is my first cat, I have been taking care of him very meticulously. On March 9, 2019, I brought him home when he was just over 60 days old. At that time, he was so tiny, constantly meowing in the carrier with a very thin and small voice. He looked so small and thin, and I had a feeling that he wasn’t in good health. Indeed, within the first month of raising him, he went through diarrhea, herpes virus, a cold, an injury, and a recurrence of the herpes virus.
On the second day, March 10, 2019, the rare sun came out in Chongqing, and I took a photo of him on the playground. On March 11, he had diarrhea. I initially thought it was just due to the stress of a new environment and eating too many different things. After adjusting his diet, he still had diarrhea and even started peeing and pooping all over my bed, which was exhausting.

On March 13, I took him to the vet. On the way, he pooped again. After the examination, the vet prescribed two round pills. The vet also said that the kitten milk cake I had bought earlier wasn’t good enough, so I switched to a higher-quality brand, Now, which cost over 70 yuan per pound. I also bought various nutritional supplements.
By March 20, he finally stopped having diarrhea, though his stool was still soft. Due to his weakened immune system, he caught the herpes virus during a temperature drop in Chongqing. His eyes were secreting yellow-green pus, so I took him back to the vet. He received three days of injections, and I was given lysine and eye drops to take care of him at home.
He often forgets to retract his tongue while playing.
As he grew a bit older, his immunity improved, and his eyes became much cleaner with fewer secretions. I thought things would continue to improve, and I could finally relax a bit.
Then, during the Qingming Festival, I went home and left him with a friend for boarding. Cola had a slight cold, and my friend’s home had many other small animals, so he couldn’t receive the same level of care as I provided. While playing with other kittens, he injured the inner eyelid of his right eye, and the herpes virus recurred. When I went to pick him up, his eyes were crusted shut with secretions, and his nose was blocked. My poor baby.
On April 7, I took him to the vet again. He received three more days of injections, and I bought high-sensitivity factors to boost his immunity. That day, I bought raw beef, shrimp, chicken legs, and chicken breast. At that moment, I had only one thought: I must raise him to be healthy.
After two days of injections, his eyes were noticeably less swollen, but he still had a blocked nose and couldn’t smell, so he ate very little. Every time he sneezed or had secretions, I would clean his eyes and nose with saline solution. I also fed him goat milk three times a day using a syringe.
By April 25, my little baby had improved a lot, and his appetite had returned. However, he had become picky with food. During his illness, he had been eating various meats and barely touched his cat food. Recently, he has been enjoying playing with his tail in the basin and often falls asleep while doing so.
I often tease him, saying he looks like a big rat.
He sleeps in a right-angle position.
Cola has grown from less than 500g when he first arrived to 1.4kg (at over 3 months old). This weight is still a bit light. Mom will make sure to give you more delicious food in the future, hoping you will grow up healthy and strong.
