I have a Siamese cat named Jiangzi at home. She is like a lively and full – of – personality little “troublemaker”. Those headache – inducing flaws have, in the daily interactions, become part of her unique charm, making me feel a mix of love and helplessness.
The most overwhelming thing about Jiangzi is her extraordinary tendency to be overly vocal. From the first ray of sunlight in the morning to the stillness of the early hours, her meows can always break the peace. When she’s hungry, she stands by her food bowl, meowing non – stop in an urgent tone as if to say, “I’m starving, give me food now!” When she wants to be petted, she runs to your feet, using gentle and coquettish meows to catch your attention until you reach out to stroke her. When she’s bored, she also uses meows to demand attention, as if complaining, “Come and play with me!” And during her heat period, her meows become extremely fierce and piercing, impossible to ignore whether it’s day or night. Sometimes, I’m jolted awake from a sound sleep by her meows. Even so, looking into her pitiful and longing eyes, all my complaints turn into a helpless sigh.

Jiangzi’s liveliness rivals that of a “cat athlete”. At home, she never stops moving, constantly jumping up and down as if she has endless energy. The items on the table often end up on the floor by the time I get home from work, all “masterpieces” of her mischief. When playing with her, I have to be extremely careful because she often gets overexcited and accidentally scratches me. Sometimes, while chasing toys, she suddenly pounces on me, and her sharp claws leave faint marks on my skin. Or she might bite me a bit too hard during play. Although she doesn’t mean to hurt me, it still makes me experience “pain and pleasure” simultaneously. But seeing her happy expression while playing, all those minor “injuries” fade away instantly.
Jiangzi is also well – known for her intense jealousy. She can’t stand it when I get close to other cats. As soon as she notices that I’m paying more attention to her sister Nian Gao or hugging another cat, she immediately gets “agitated” and shows strong aggression. She arches her back, growls lowly, and her eyes are filled with vigilance and dissatisfaction, as if declaring her “territory”. Strangely, despite being “possessive” towards other cats, she isn’t shy at all when it comes to friends and family. Whenever there are guests at home, she warmly approaches them and plays happily, looking so affectionate that people can’t resist giving her more hugs.
Looking at the scratches from Jiangzi and then into her innocent and cute eyes, I can’t help but feel both annoyed and amused. Although she has many flaws that cause all sorts of troubles, in my heart, she has long become an irreplaceable family member. Every meow, every naughty act, and every “little tantrum” has become a unique memory in our life. It’s precisely these imperfections that make Jiangzi a one – of – a – kind existence and deepen my love for her. In the days to come, I’m willing to continue tolerating her flaws and spending more joyful and surprising moments with her, because she is the beloved “troublemaker” in my life – Jiangzi.
