In the world of pet keeping, Siamese cats are undoubtedly creatures with distinct personalities. From the moment I brought home the Siamese cat, whose birthday is February 10, 2020, in May 2021, my life has been completely transformed by this little guy, embarking on a wonderful journey full of challenges and warmth.
The liveliness of Siamese cats exceeds all expectations. When it was a kitten, it showed astonishing “strength” and mobility. Once, it actually dragged my thick sweater coat from the bedroom bed to the living room floor. The weight of that sweater coat should have been too much for its small body, but it managed to complete this “feat” with some unknown determination. Another time, I placed a new bag of cat litter within its reach. When I came home from work in the evening, I was greeted with a scene that made me laugh and cry – the cat litter was spilled all over the floor, and the “culprit” was happily playing in it, as if it were a game it had carefully planned.
Its clinginess is unparalleled. Every day after work, no matter how late, it will be waiting at the door on time. When I’m about to enter, I can hear its eager meows, full of anticipation and joy. My grandmother once told me that every day around the time I get off work, it will run from the bedroom bed to the shoe cabinet at the door, waiting there quietly and attentively. It’s so punctual, like a living alarm clock. This kind of waiting makes me feel warm as soon as I open the door after a tiring day at work.
Siamese cats seem to have endless energy and an almost obsessive love for high places. It climbs up along the curtains in my house, first to the rod, then to the air conditioner, and finally firmly “occupies” the top of the wardrobe. Then it lies there leisurely, looking like a “king of the mountain”, ignoring all calls to come down. What’s more amazing is that it can even jump directly onto the door. Its agile figure and excellent jumping ability make people marvel at the huge energy hidden in its body.
Along with its liveliness, Siamese cats have distinct emotional characteristics. It has deep affection for its owner. At least in my opinion, it loves me. Every time I interact with it, it responds actively, and its eyes are full of dependence. But it also holds grudges easily. Once it feels “wronged”, it will “take revenge” in its own way. For example, if I accidentally hurt it, it may ignore me for a while or deliberately cause trouble in places where it usually doesn’t.
During its growth, the Siamese cat has also brought me many surprises. When it first arrived home, it wasn’t shy at all. After playing with the cat teaser for a while, it readily accepted my hug and even followed me to bed on the first day. As it grew up, I developed the habit of holding it and carrying it on my shoulders every day after work. And it has come to expect this. Now that it’s over a year old, it must be hugged as soon as I get home. Otherwise, it will keep “protesting”. Interestingly, its kneading skill was only discovered when it was over a year old. As soon as I stroke its belly, it will start kneading immediately. Its cute appearance is enough to melt anyone’s heart.
In terms of diet, I have always adhered to scientific feeding. Since it was a kitten, I only fed it cat food and staple – food cans, such as brands like Orijen and Ziwipeak. Perhaps because of this, although it eats a lot and poops a lot, its stomach and intestines are very healthy and have never been fragile.
However, objectively speaking, Siamese cats are not suitable for everyone. If you’re just doing it on a whim or lack sufficient patience, raising a Siamese cat may become a burden. Its high energy levels require the owner to spend a lot of time and energy to accompany and guide it. Otherwise, it may turn the house upside down. But if you’re fully prepared and willing to invest time and love, then a Siamese cat will surely bring you endless joy and warmth with its unique charm, becoming the most special presence in your life.
