In the current era where pet keeping is becoming increasingly popular, Siamese cats attract numerous cat owners with their elegant appearance and lively personalities. However, my younger sister’s personal experience serves as a wake-up call – Siamese cats may not be as gentle and lovely as we imagine, and could even be “time bombs” lurking around us.
My younger sister and her husband doted on the Siamese cat they raised. Over the course of a year or two, they regarded the cat as a member of the family, often taking it out for walks and even bringing it back to their hometown during the Chinese New Year. On a daily basis, they went to great lengths to provide a comfortable living environment for the cat. When giving the cat a warm bath, they adjusted the brightness of the bathroom heater to a suitable level, considering the cat might be afraid of the strong light. When using a hair dryer to dry its fur, they let the cat stay in its cat carrier to avoid scaring it with the sound. The cat seemed to understand commands when called by its owners, which made my sister and her husband believe that they had established a deep trust with the cat.

However, all these beautiful illusions shattered on that fateful day. That day, the cat somehow climbed onto the balcony skylight. Concerned that it might fall, my sister patiently coaxed it down. Unexpectedly, the cat suddenly changed its demeanor, ferociously biting my sister. Caught off guard, my sister was severely bitten, and she spent several thousand yuan on treating her injuries. The pet that had been so close turned into a “weapon” that hurt its owner in an instant. Heartbroken and angry, my sister and her husband had no choice but to kill the cat.
In daily life, we had already noticed some disturbing signs in this Siamese cat. Unlike other cats that prefer to stay at home quietly, it often tried to open the door to go out for a stroll and sometimes showed a fierce expression. Especially in our hometown, when faced with children aged two or three, four or five, its behavior made me extremely worried, fearing that it might harm the children. My sister and her husband always thought it was just shy, but the truth proved that it might be the latent aggressiveness of the Siamese cat at work.
Siamese cats originated from Thailand (formerly known as Siam). They are lively, active, intelligent, but also have a strong sense of territory and a sensitive personality. When they feel their safety is threatened or when there are changes in their living environment, they are likely to become aggressive. My sister’s cat might have had its emotional and psychological state changed due to frequent outings and environmental changes, which led to the outburst of its aggressive behavior at a certain critical point.
This incident has had a huge impact on our entire family. It has made us deeply realize that pet keeping is not just about providing material care, but also about paying attention to their psychological state and behavioral changes. For special – breed cats like Siamese cats, the potential risks cannot be ignored. Here, based on my personal experience, I earnestly warn all cat lovers: Siamese cats may not be suitable for everyone. Before choosing to keep one, you must fully understand their personality traits and be prepared to deal with various unexpected situations. Do not blindly follow the trend. Otherwise, the pet that was once cherished may bring unexpected harm.
