It’s not certain that your cat will get sick, but careful attention is needed during the raising process. My cat suffered from stomatitis when it was a kitten. After forced medication, the condition never recurred. And now, it just keeps getting fatter and fatter.
I personally recommend Pedigree kitten food for underage kittens. After they turn one year old, you can switch to better – quality cat food according to your budget. Many people recommend Pro Plan for Siamese cats, and that’s what my cat is currently eating. When choosing freeze – dried food, make sure to go for reliable brands. For canned food, opt for those with a high meat content. It’s crucial to distinguish between staple – food canned and snack canned. Small snacks are essential, but don’t feed them too often, as they usually contain food attractants. Keep pet disinfectant at home, and ensure your cat gets vaccinated on time. Choose toys based on your own preferences and your cat’s needs. If possible, don’t keep your cat in a cage. My three – tiered large cat cage is now just a decorative item. In winter, if your cat isn’t allowed to sleep on the bed with you, buy it some thick blankets or cushions. Instead of going to a pet store to trim your cat’s nails, you can buy a good – quality nail clipper that will last a long time. In winter, your cat’s paw pads may crack, so consider getting a paw balm for protection. In fact, most cats don’t like wearing clothes, as it prevents them from grooming their fur properly. Siamese cats are generally very clingy, so spend more time playing with them.

My cat, although not raised in an overly luxurious way, is very pampered. It weighs around 10 pounds and is less than two years old, which is considered quite chubby among Siamese cats. Since Siamese cats are naturally slender, being too fat can be harmful to their heart. Never let your cat eat without restraint just because you love it too much. For very young kittens, automatic water dispensers and feeders aren’t really necessary. You can consider buying them when the cat gets a bit older, depending on your situation. Oh, and one more important thing: avoid using plastic bowls. It’s recommended to choose glass, iron, or wheat straw bowls, or even use your own bowls. Plastic isn’t good for pets.
As for cat litter, it depends on your personal choice. I currently prefer the original – scent tofu cat litter from Xichongwu, and I add some deodorizer to it. N1 cat litter is also highly recommended by many people, although it’s a bit more expensive. When choosing a litter box, go for a larger one. If you’re worried about the litter being scattered everywhere, you can consider buying an enclosed litter box, but you need to teach your cat how to use it. If that seems too troublesome, just get a big litter box so that your cat has enough space.
When keeping pets, always have some common medications at home, because it can be very difficult to find them in an emergency. Also, buy calcium tablets to supplement trace elements, as well as nutritional pastes and hairball pastes. I personally recommend the RedDog brand. If your cat gets tired of the hairball paste over time, you can plant some cat grass for it.
In terms of expenses, cat food usually needs to be bought every 3 – 5 months, depending on your cat’s appetite. Cat litter needs to be replaced about every 1 – 2 months. Don’t feed snack canned food too often, but you can mix some freeze – dried food with the cat food. The frequency of buying toys depends on how quickly your cat wears them out. I always buy a lot of cat scratching posts at once in case my cat runs out of things to play with. I also buy many cat wands at a time, and my cat likes the ones with bells. You can buy various other decorative or novel items according to your preferences. My monthly spending on my cat is about 300 yuan, and this is for the essential items, excluding cat food and bathing costs. The prices at pet stores vary from city to city. For example, in my city, a cat bath costs 120 yuan, nail trimming costs 20 yuan, and fur – beautifying services cost over 200 yuan. So these expenses really depend on personal choice. Also, cats don’t need to be bathed too frequently. Some people recommend bathing them once every 2 – 3 months, but I bathe my cat once a month. Remember to regularly disinfect your cat’s living environment and items, and perform internal and external deworming regularly. That’s basically all the advice I have. I wish you a pleasant experience in cat – raising!
