In the day – to – day companionship with my Siamese cat at home, I often have a wonderful illusion, doubting whether I have raised a cat or a lively and lovely dog. This little guy named Sheldon Pei, with its unique behavior patterns, has brought countless joys and warmth to my life.
Its clinginess is simply identical to that of a dog. Every time I open the door when I get home, it will rush towards me impatiently, rubbing its soft body back and forth against my legs, making eager cries in its mouth, as if telling its longing for me. If I don’t hug it immediately, it will keep circling around my feet, with a look of pity and expectation in its eyes. During the Chinese New Year, when I occasionally go out to play without taking it, my parents tell me that it will run up and down at home, anxiously looking for me. The “meows” are full of concern for me, showing how deeply it depends on its owner.
When it comes to sleeping, it can’t do without people even more. It not only has to snuggle up to me tightly but also requires me to face it. Several times, when I turned over in my sleep and faced away from it at night, it would step on my face with its little paws and try hard to climb to the side where I was facing. It has to maintain a face – to – face intimate posture with me to fall asleep peacefully. Its persistent look makes people laugh.

Sheldon Pei’s intelligence is also amazing. It seems to know instinctively how to use the litter box without much teaching from me. Every time I call its name, it will quickly respond, turning its little head nimbly and then running cheerfully to my side. I once did an experiment of putting a sock over its head to see its reaction. Unexpectedly, it easily took the sock off its head, showing a high IQ. What’s even more amazing is that sometimes when I talk to it, its focused listening look makes me really feel that it can understand my words. It also especially likes to drink the water in my cup. However, as long as I gently scold it, although it will immediately stop stealing the drink, it will obediently squat next to it, looking at the cup eagerly. Its appearance makes people angry and funny at the same time. When it is in a good mood, as long as I call it to come over, it will run over without hesitation, being very obedient.
However, this little guy also has a vindictive side. If it does something wrong and I scold or reprimand it, it will really get angry. It will hide sulkily. Sometimes, when I’m not paying attention, it will suddenly rush out, scratch my trouser leg, and then quickly hide back in the corner, making a clearly unhappy cry in its mouth. Even if I call it later, it will just turn its head to look at me and ignore me arrogantly. Its little temper is exactly the same as that of a sulking child.
What makes people laugh and cry is that it has been mistaken for a dog countless times. Once, when I took a picture of it with my Huawei camera, the camera’s recognition system actually recognized it as a dog. When walking on the road, children often point at it and say, “That little dog is so cute.” Facing such a situation, I really feel extremely helpless and can only shake my head with a smile.
Although it has many behaviors similar to those of a dog, after all, it is still a cat with the unique gentleness of a cat. Its temper is very good. When playing with me, it never really bites or scratches people. It always carefully retracts its claws, knowing how to measure and not letting me get hurt at all.
Sheldon Pei, this Siamese cat that is like a dog and also has the unique charm of a cat, has deeply integrated into my life. Every move and every expression of it make me love it more and more. In the days spent with it, I have reaped full of love and joy and have also more deeply realized the fun and significance of pet – raising. It is not only my pet but also more like an indispensable family member in my life, accompanying me through every beautiful moment.
