My Precious Socrates: A Special Bond

My Precious Socrates: A Special Bond

In my life, there is an extremely lovely little guy named Socrates. Since it came into my life, it has added countless colors to my originally monotonous days.

Not long after Socrates arrived at my home, it showed its unique way of accompanying me. I remember once, on a cold winter night, I was huddled on the sofa playing games. It seemed to sense my coldness and actually jumped onto my shoulder on its own initiative and curled up into a ball, just like a warm scarf, bringing me unexpected warmth. When I was playing games, it was always full of curiosity, walking around on the keyboard and occasionally pressing a key with its little paw, as if it also wanted to participate in the game. Its appearance was really amusing. In my spare time, I like to watch dramas. When I was immersed in the exciting plot of “The Longest Day in Chang’an”, Socrates would quietly lie beside me and “watch” with me. Occasionally, it would raise its head to look at the screen, as if trying to understand the plot in the drama.

However, getting along with Socrates is not always smooth sailing. Once, I took it to see a cat doctor, originally just wanting to simply check whether it was healthy. But the doctor gave me a bill as high as 1600 yuan. You know, I only spent 700 yuan to buy Socrates. This really made me a bit angry. At that moment, I felt the possible “dark” side of the pet medical industry and cherished the time with Socrates even more. After all, in order to take care of it, I need to put in more effort and money.

As a straight – forward man, in the process of getting along with Socrates, I have also learned many skills that I have never come into contact with before. I accompanied it and slowly learned how to cut its nails. At first, I was always very careful, for fear of hurting it. After many attempts, I am now much more proficient. Dropping eye drops for it is also a challenge. It is always not very cooperative, but I still patiently coax it to complete this important nursing step. There is also cleaning ear mites. I carefully studied the methods on Zhihu and helped it solve the ear problems little by little. In order to give it the best diet, I consulted various materials on Zhihu, compared the advantages and disadvantages of different cat foods, and finally chose “Orijen” cat food, hoping to maintain its “status” as a cat. I also learned how to stroke it to make it feel more comfortable. Whenever I see it squinting its eyes and enjoying it comfortably, my heart is also filled with satisfaction.

Although Socrates doesn’t live the kind of life that cat owners on Zhihu carefully care for. I can’t cook, so I can’t make fresh food like chicken and beef for it. The three – story cat climbing frame in the shape of a big villa that I bought for it doesn’t seem to interest it either. Instead, it has a great time running around on the dining table every day. It is also very naughty and often ambushes me in a corner. Every time I pass by, it suddenly rushes out, scaring me so much that I jump up high. Then it runs away proudly. Its lively appearance makes me angry and funny at the same time.

Socrates is just an ordinary backyard cat. Perhaps it doesn’t have the beautiful appearance and perfect color of those precious cats. Its eyes are not as round and bright as other cats, and it always squints. But in my eyes, it is unique. I can really feel its love for me. It always rubs against me, expressing its dependence on me in its own way. Although it occasionally makes trouble, such as when I come back from a business trip and find that it has pooped all over the place, this doesn’t reduce my love for it at all.

Little Socrates, don’t grow up too fast. I hope to accompany you for a longer time, witness every moment of your growth, and let us spend more wonderful times together, continuing to write this special bond between us.
