During the pandemic, I decided to get a cat. When I first saw Duoduo, he had just turned one month old. He looked delicate and almost like a little girl. To be honest, he wasn’t my first choice—I originally wanted a two-month-old British Shorthair Blue and White. But because of the pandemic, I was stuck in another city and reluctantly settled on Duoduo.
However, after paying the deposit, the more I looked at him, the cuter he became. At one point, his head even got stuck in something, and the pet store suggested waiting until he was two months old to take him home. But I couldn’t resist and brought him home at 47 days old (having raised a puppy before, I wasn’t too worried).
Duoduo is a bit of a clueless cat. When he first came home, he was very timid and stayed in his cat villa all night without moving.

What’s more, he didn’t poop for over two days, which scared me. I contacted the pet store owner, who suggested massaging his belly and stimulating his bottom. When that didn’t work, I had a sudden thought—maybe this cat is a cleanliness freak! So, I set up a large litter box outside his villa, and sure enough, he came out and did his business. Definitely a clean freak.
After a week at home, Duoduo still acted like a little silly cat. He played with toys weakly and would meow nonstop if he couldn’t see anyone. So, I decided to get another cat to keep him company!
The new cat, Yuanbao, is about half a month older than Duoduo. As the saying goes, “the elder sister is like a mother.” Yuanbao is incredibly mischievous, but she also taught Duoduo how to jump and climb around. Now, if Duoduo can’t see Yuanbao, he meows endlessly.
Now, Duoduo is 4 months and 9 days old, and Yuanbao is 4 months and 24 days old. Duoduo has grown into a soft, sweet little boy cat. When he doesn’t want to be held, he’ll struggle a bit symbolically, then just lie on your lap. When you sit on the couch, he’ll jump up and lie down next to you. While I’m in the kitchen preparing meat for them, he’ll scratch the cabinets, begging for a bite. He always eats slower than Yuanbao. By the time Yuanbao finishes, Duoduo has only eaten two-thirds of his portion. And when Yuanbao stops eating, Duoduo stops too, only for Yuanbao to come back and finish his leftovers.
