I raise Bichon Frises.I impulsively decided to raise a dog without much thought. I just felt a bit lonely. So, I searched for small – sized dog breeds online. Seeing how cute Bichon Frises were, I chose this breed. I made the purchase very straightforwardly. I bought it after watching a 10 – second life video where I couldn’t even clearly see its face. I was really careless. Fortunately, the dog was fine.
Now, I’ve had the older one for 4 years. Two years ago, I got another Bichon Frise. I think I was misled by the online description that Bichon Frises are small – sized dogs. My older one weighs 20 pounds, and I didn’t overfeed it. The younger one weighs 14 pounds, while the seller told me it wouldn’t exceed 10 pounds… I’m a bit disappointed.
After raising them for so long, I think they have a high level of cuteness. Every time I take them out for a walk, I receive a lot of compliments. However, maintaining their good looks costs money. I’m in Jinan. It costs 80 yuan to bathe the older one and 60 yuan for the younger one. They need to be bathed every 10 days or so; otherwise, these white dogs will turn grey. The cost of grooming for both of them ranges from 260 to 400 yuan. They need to be groomed at least once a month, or they’ll look like strays in no time. Schnauzers also need grooming, but I don’t know how much it costs.

In terms of personality, I find Bichon Frises quite gentle and easy to train. They are also very clingy and recognize their owner well. I once went on a business trip for two or three days and asked my dad to go to my house to feed and walk the dogs. Although both of them had been to my dad’s house and knew him, they refused to go out for a walk with my dad. The younger one was okay; my dad could take it to the grass outside for some fresh air. But the older one wouldn’t even go out of the front door. My dad was helpless. He could only let it relieve itself at home and clean up after it. When I’m at home, they always stay by my side. When going out with me, they don’t wander around randomly. Especially the older one, it ignores children and the elderly and even walks around other small dogs. It’s quite amazing. The younger one gets excited when it sees children and small dogs, but I can call it back right away. Today, I found an unused outdoor parking lot of a hotel. There was no one there, so I let them run free by untying the leashes. To my relief, they both came back as soon as I called.
They usually don’t bark at home, except when wild cats appear outside the door. I think this is very important as it doesn’t disturb the neighbors or myself.
They do shed a little; it’s not that they don’t shed at all. My mom often complains that if we don’t clean the house for two or three days, we can see balls of fur floating under the TV cabinet and sofa with the wind. But it has never been like a snowstorm of dog hair.
They do have drawbacks. They’re really stupid. Over the years, the older one can only follow commands like “sit”, “shake hands”, “lie down”, “wait”, and “drop it”. The younger one is even worse. It can only “sit”.
