Understanding the Teddy’s Behavior: Myths and Realities in Canine Psychology

Sadly, only a very small number of dog owners are willing to understand canine psychology.

This isn’t entirely unexpected. After all, the Chinese people have rather traditional views on psychological issues. The increased attention society has paid to depression in recent years can be regarded as a step forward.

Hopefully, one day, the Chinese will come to consider mental health as important as physical health, and the same should apply to dog – raising.

Now, back to the main topic.

Teddy dogs are actually Poodles, and Poodles aren’t fundamentally different from other dogs. There’s no data indicating that Poodles have a higher sex drive than other small – breed dogs.

So, why do people think Teddies are lewd?

Poodles account for a large proportion among all pet dogs. In 2017, Poodles had the highest sales volume. In our daily lives, Poodles are also the most commonly seen dogs.

Compared to large – breed dogs, a higher proportion of small – breed dogs are not leashed when taken out for walks.

Since small – breed dogs have a relatively small appetite, their owners can provide them with more sufficient nutrition. This leads to faster development and more abundant energy in small – breed dogs.

Owners have a very low awareness of scientific training. Many owners, when their dogs exhibit humping behavior, don’t correct it in a timely manner. Instead, they laugh and take out their phones to record it. What they don’t realize is that their positive attitude is actually encouraging this behavior.

Dogs aren’t humans. They don’t have a sense of shame. They simply feel pleasure from humping.

Animal behaviorists refer to the frequent mating – like behavior of Teddies as displacement behavior. Just as humans play with their phones or computers when they’re bored. A dog’s humping behavior may, on the one hand, be a displacement behavior, and on the other hand, it may be an attempt to attract the owner’s attention.

On another note, seeing that many people find this behavior disgusting, I’d like to say that sex isn’t disgusting. It’s an animal’s instinct. It’s best not to view other creatures from a human ethical perspective. You can guide your dog to understand that its behavior is wrong, or you can have it neutered.

As an aside, if you want to live harmoniously with your dog in human society, you should be aware that “dogs aren’t humans”. Proactively correct your dog’s behavioral problems, leash it when going out, and train it to excrete in a fixed place and clean up after it. If everyone could do this, there wouldn’t be so many people who dislike dogs.
