The daily life of a beautiful and stubborn little black Shiba Inu in the first year of junior high school (1)
This article was written in February 2016, and it has been written intermittently for a year now. Since the question is about what it is like to raise a Shiba Inu, I deliberately arranged all the updates in chronological order when editing the answer, because I think this will help everyone understand how I, an inexperienced dog keeper, lived with this beautiful, stubborn and stupid little black Shiba Inu in the first year of junior high school.
This answer involves the following contents:
the preparations the answerer made before raising a Shiba Inu,
the confusion and pain of raising a Shiba Inu, the toilet training,
socializing with puppies
, sterilization and care of dogs
(because the answerer started to share a house with others), living with Doto in the first year of junior high school (to be filled)
(because the answerer’s roommate returned to China), the first bitterness of separation in the first year of junior high school (to be filled)
Summary (to be filled)
Haha, please fill in the gap.

I ordered a black Shiba Inu born on February 5th from a breeder last week. You can pick up Little Black Sister when she is two months old!! Since the answerer wants a long answer, I will update my experience of raising a Shiba Inu as a novice after I pick her up!~~~
First, here are the photos the breeder sent me.
This was taken not long after Little Black Sister was born.
The photo below shows her just opening her eyes.
__________________________Is the dividing line like this? _________________________________________
The photo below is Little Black Sister when she is four weeks old.
I named my Little Black Sister Chuyi, Chewie. I liked Chewbacca when I watched Star Wars before.
When Little Black Sister was 40 days old, she was already playing on the grass.
Her tail was already curled.
I should pick her up on March 26th. There is still one week left! The breeder said that dogs should leave their mothers a week before leaving to help them adapt to future life. So does my Little Chuyi no longer see her mother? Looking at the calendar, I haven’t been home for 579 days. Tsk tsk, I feel a sense of sympathy.
In the half month since the last update, I have gradually bought all the daily necessities for Chuyi.
Food: dog food, treats, dental care bones, dog bowl, portable water bowl.
Housing: dog kennel, dog cage, activity cage, portable cage.
Play: Chew toys (5, 6), comfort toys, etc.
Use: collar, vest, leash, safety belt, comb, cleaning wipes, small clothes, artificial grass mat, urine mat, deodorant, etc.
After picking up the dog, I will make an appointment with the veterinarian for a checkup as soon as possible. At that time, I will ask the veterinarian questions:
1. How many more shots of vaccinations are needed.
2. Recommended external anthelmintics (for puppies)
3. When can the dog be walked.
4. Feeding frequency and food intake.
5. When can the sterilization surgery be performed.
(I will add more when I think of it)
Things that should be purchased after the official dog walking:
dog poop plastic bags, dog raincoats, flash lights, flea combs, etc.
In the past month, I have made the following preparations to welcome the dog:
1. I have sorted out the room and moved away things that are not suitable for the puppy to touch.
2. I bought and read the Shiba Inus (Complete Pet Owner’s Manual), watched the video Dog 101 Shiba Inu part, and learned more about the Shiba Inu breed.
3. I watched some Youtube videos about dog training and learned about Positive Reinforcement Training. I also have some basic ideas about how to get along with and train dogs. (Of course, the specific situation still depends on the dog’s personality.)
4. I have a basic understanding of the safety of pet products (for example, nylon bones may be chewed and swallowed by dogs, so it is not recommended for dogs to grind their teeth).
5. I learned about the veterinary hospital information near my residence.
6. I investigated the places where I can walk my dog near my residence, designed a route and walked it several times.
7. I visited all the places selling pet products nearby.
My current experience is that every day is very fulfilling. I look at the dog’s photos countless times every day. I have many unrealistic ideas about dogs in my mind (such as traveling with the dog in an RV, and taking the dog with me when I get married!). I will fantasize about the dog’s personality. Sometimes when I walk in the room, I will fantasize about having a little puppy following me. I show off my dog in my circle of friends. I will get excited when I see anything related to Shiba Inu.
A few days after I ordered the dog, my best friend also ordered a Corgi puppy (Doto, Potato) who is five days younger than my sister. We basically did things like buying pet facilities together. This is a very special experience because we can share our expectations for the dog and our wild fantasies about the dog.
The above is the experience of a “prospective dog owner who will receive the Shiba Inu in a week.”
(I hope that the next update will have some useful information. After all, I haven’t really “raised” a Shiba Inu yet)
