Golden retrievers are good swimmers, so you can take it swimming if you have the chance.
2. Companionship.
Spend some time with it every day. Talk to it often. Touch it and hug it. I don’t know if it understands or not, but I think dogs understand human nature. It will know that we care about it and love it (comb its hair every day. Every time you take out the comb, it will come and sit down and wait for the combing to increase the affection).
3. Patience (important! Emphasize it).
You must be prepared to cultivate patience when raising a golden retriever. I am an impatient person. Since I got halo I feel like I have become more patient. Golden retrievers are very naughty at first and are curious about everything. The older they get, the better their personalities become. Halo is almost one year old now and has gotten much better than when he was a child. Dogs are like children. The more they are taught, the more they can integrate into this society.
On the other hand, let’s talk about hardware.
1. Homemade snacks and dog food: buy a dryer and slice chicken breasts to make jerky. You can also make duck breasts, duck necks, beef ribs, beef tendons, and many other things. I find it troublesome and only make jerky, so I buy the rest. Buy a yogurt maker and make yogurt with milk (dogs can’t drink milk, they can only drink goat milk).
If you buy a dryer, you will find that you can save money. Just buy others’ homemade ones, which must be more expensive.
Purchase: There are many dog snacks on Taobao. I can only say that you have to choose good snacks. I won’t let it eat certain inferior domestic snacks. After all, its lifespan is only a dozen years. I’ll live a few more years if I can.
As for dog food, I won’t say much. I can only say that everyone has their own way of raising dogs. Some people may choose something that costs a few dollars per pound and raise their dogs to be fat and white. I still say “choose the best”.
It’s not that the more expensive the better. It depends on how the dog eats, its stool, what it likes, etc. There have been news reports of problems with some big brands in recent years. I can only say that try to choose the best. Health is the most important.
Since I got it, I go to Taobao more to see its things, and life has become another kind of fun, hahahaha.
2.At the beginning, we used a cage with a guardrail, just like the one used by babies. Later, I didn’t lock it up for about four months. It didn’t destroy the house. Occasionally, if it did something wrong, I would let it go in to reflect on it. It’s best to buy the largest one at the beginning. Golden retrievers grow fast.
3. Toilets, urine pads, poop shovels, plastic bags and sleeping mats.
You can buy the largest sleeping mats at the beginning. There are many types and you can choose the urine pad yourself and change it every day. When it was young, it could poop more than three times a day. When it grows up, it can poop once a day. You can train it to take it out in the morning to poop (remember to shovel it).
4.There are many kinds of toys. You will know which one it likes best after playing with it. Halo prefers Guiwei and Xingji toys and likes to play with balls.
5. Dog leashes and collars.
When it was young, you can use a collar, and when it grows up, you can use a back collar. There are many different prices and brands. You can choose by yourself. You can also buy a special small light (the round one in the picture) and hang it around its neck. When you go out at night, turn it on so that the big dog will not scare passers-by.
6. Shower gel, anthelmintic, ear wash, toothpaste and other care products (about if you plan to bathe yourself).
At first, I used the shower gel from Dog Island. Later, as it got bigger and bigger, I went to the pet store. I am a 85-pound girl… In fact, it is not difficult to wash it. The key is that it is laborious to blow the hair.
So you should prepare for your own bath: the necessary things are shower gel and towel ( There are special absorbent towels for dogs), hair dryers (there are special hair dryers for large dogs. If someone uses one when it is young, it will take an hour. I guess it will take two hours when it grows up…), bathtub (buy a big one! Of course, you can also let it lie on the ground to wash directly…), nail clippers (buy expensive and sharp ones to save replacements!), shaver (to shave the hair on the paws and the hair inside the ears).
I don’t think the dry cleaning foam is particularly useful. Just adding some fragrance still doesn’t clean it well. I bought a Kao Halo, but I don’t like the smell very much. I occasionally use it to wash its face.
Anti-worm medicine: external deworming once a month. I have used Baichongshuang and Frontline. It is mainly because I am afraid that I will bring back some small lice when I go out.
In areas with hot summer and mosquitoes, you need to give the dog heart protection every 45 days to prevent heartworms.
I usually feed the dog heart medicine once every three months. It is not better to feed it more often. Insecticides are actually harmful to health. So try to find a balance between deworming and
health . Ear drops: Golden Retrievers have lop-eared dogs, brown things will grow inside their ears if they are not cleaned for a long time. In severe cases, they will have ear mites. Generally
, use ear drops once a week. Toothbrush and toothpaste: It is normal to brush your teeth once a day. You must buy a dog toothbrush. A children’s toothbrush is also OK, but I am lazy and generally use it once every few days. You can use a tooth cleaning stick. I bought a foreign green one, one at a time. Once a day or two days .
There are also some auxiliary tools: foot cream to prevent the pads from drying out, insect repellent spray, mosquito repellent, tartar removal dew, etc.

I bought two dog bowls, one for eating and the other for drinking water. I bought the largest one and I have used it until now. I estimate that it can be used for a lifetime… I used it when it was young. When it grew up, I put a small chair under it because it grew taller. I can also change to a high-legged bowl.
8. Foot cleaning foam
can use a foot cleaning cup or foot brushing foam. You can also use a towel to wipe it. It should be used after coming back from playing outside.
